Every dictation is stored locally, so your words are never lost — even if insertion failed or the target app crashed.
Open it from the menu bar → Dictation History…, or Settings → Dictation → Dictation History….
What's in it
Each entry records the final text, the cleanup level used, the target app, duration, timestamp, and whether insertion succeeded. The raw pre-cleanup transcript is kept for 24 hours, so a bad cleanup is always recoverable.
What you can do
Search everything you've dictated
Copy any entry
Re-insert an entry into the app you're in now
Delete individual entries, or wipe all history
Retention
Dictation Settings → History → Keep history for: 7 days, 30 days (default), 90 days, or Forever.
Privacy
History is local-only. It never syncs, and it never leaves your Mac. Raw audio is not retained at all.
