A snippet turns a short spoken trigger into a longer block of text. Say "my address" and your address types out.
Manage them in Dictation Settings → Snippets.
Creating one
Enter a trigger — the phrase you'll say.
Enter the expansion — the text to insert. It can be multi-line.
Add.
Triggers must be two or more words, or a single distinctive word. That rule exists so ordinary speech doesn't accidentally fire a snippet.
How firing works
A snippet fires only when:
Your dictation is exactly the trigger, or
You prefix it with "insert" — "insert my address"
Mentioning the trigger inside a longer sentence won't fire it.
Placeholders
{date} — today's date, in your chosen date format
{clipboard} — the current clipboard contents
Both fill in at the moment the snippet fires.
