Signing in turns on background sync between your Macs.
What syncs
Notes — raw and enhanced
Meetings — titles, dates, attendees, template and folder assignments
Folders
Action items — including status, owner, due date, and reminders
Custom Dictionary terms and replacement rules
Some preferences, like your dictation date format
What deliberately doesn't sync
Transcripts. A transcript captured on your Mac stays on that Mac. The note written from it syncs; the raw transcript doesn't.
Dictation history. Local-only, always.
Checking status
Settings → Account & Sync shows the sync state: up to date · last 2:41 PM, syncing…, a pending count, or an error. Sync now forces a round trip; otherwise it runs on its own every 30 seconds and after meaningful changes.
Offline behavior
Your local database is the source of truth. Everything you write offline is queued and pushed when you're back online. Editing the same note on two devices resolves to the most recent edit.
Conflicts
Amlin uses last-write-wins per record. In practice conflicts are rare — a note is normally edited on one device at a time — but if you edit the same note simultaneously on two devices, the last save wins for that note.
